Heartwise Healing

Psychotherapy with Caroline Lee, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
"It’s who we become that changes the world, not what we do.
We uplift and heal people by our presence and the light we shine.
We are able to see their divine light and perfection when we embody our own light.
We don’t do this for recognition, we do this anonymously.
We live the work and become the work.
We change and then the world changes."

  Attachment & Relationship Challenges

Trauma Therapy in Boulder, CO

Do you find yourself feeling disconnected or unsure in your relationships?
  • Do familiar patterns keep showing up, even when you want something different?
  • Do you long for closeness but feel overwhelmed, guarded, or unsure how to stay connected?
  • Do relationships leave you feeling depleted, confused, or like you’ve lost your center?
  • Are you noticing how early family or relational experiences continue to shape how you relate to others?
Struggles in relationships can feel deeply painful and isolating. Many people arrive in therapy feeling worn down by old relational patterns, unsure whether the difficulty lies in the relationship itself or within them. When connection feels fragile or inconsistent, it’s natural to begin questioning your needs, your responses, or your sense of belonging.
Why Relationship Patterns Can Feel So Hard to Shift
Our earliest relationships often shape how we learn to connect, protect ourselves, and make sense of closeness. These early attachment experiences don’t disappear as we grow older — they can quietly influence how we communicate, how safe we feel relying on others, and how we respond to intimacy, conflict, or distance.

Rather than focusing on labels or attachment “types,” my work draws from a psychodynamic and relational lens to understand how your early relationships and family dynamics continue to influence present-day patterns. You might notice a pull between wanting closeness and needing space, difficulty trusting others, or repeating familiar roles in relationships even when they no longer serve you.

These patterns are not signs of failure — they are often intelligent responses shaped by your history.

How Therapy Can Support Relational Healing

In my trauma therapy practice in Boulder, CO, I offer a space to slow down and gently explore how relational patterns show up — both in your life and in the therapy relationship itself. We pay attention to how your body responds to connection, stress, and emotional closeness, and how your nervous system learned to navigate relationships over time.

This work is relational, somatic, and insight-oriented. Together, we explore how early experiences shaped your ways of relating, while also creating opportunities for new experiences of safety, attunement, and choice. Over time, this process can help loosen long-standing relational strategies and support more grounded, authentic connection with others.

Many people find that therapy helps them feel more centered in relationships, clearer about their needs and boundaries, and more able to stay connected without losing themselves. Therapy can help people understand themselves in a deeper manner leading to increased self compassion and kindness towards oneself.

You Don’t Have to Navigate This Alone

If you’re noticing recurring challenges in relationships or feeling curious about how your early experiences continue to shape your connections, therapy can offer a supportive place to explore this with care and curiosity.
